War on Land
War on Land

Land warfare in the 20th Century has driven political, economic and social change, technological development and advances in medical science. It has been the cause of misery, suffering and physical destruction on a colossal scale but it has also provided the context for untold examples of human heroism, stoicism and endurance. All major aspects of the history of land warfare are chronicled in the extensive collections held by the Imperial War Museum.

You can explore aspects of this theme through the collection highlights, or read the War on Land overview.
